Quality education, moral values must for holistic development of children: Bhalla

JAMMU, Sept 9: Popular Model High School, Nanak Nagar, Jammu celebrated Annual Day with grandeur, here today.
Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla was the chief guest on the occasion.
To mark the occasion, Cultural extravaganza, showing the rich cultural heritage of the seven Continents was showcased to interpret the kind of education being provided to future generation. Not only students were felicitated for their academic and extra-curricular achievements but teachers were also given recognition for teaching and dedicated service.
The school showcased its landmark achievements amidst a colourful cultural programme.
Earlier, the Chairman of the School, and the Principal welcomed the guests and the parents to the function. The function began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla informed that during Congress-led Govt in the State, Rs 10 crores worth auditorium was constructed to provide programme organizing facility to all the schools in the Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Bhalla, on the occasion slammed state government’s move to close down about 1,300 government schools in the Jammu province in the name of “rationalization”.
He said the move to close down more than 1,300 schools in the Jammu province was “arbitrary” and against the overall interest of students and people.
The Chairman of the school highlighted the achievements and the Principal presented the annual report.
The cultural programme began with traditional candle lighting; Medley of western dances, which was followed by the Bollywood Masala and the message to save the environment.
The programme came to an end with the National Anthem.
