JAMMU, Dec 29: Dr Bhagirath S Chouhan, a Weed Scientist of high international acclaim, working in the university of Queensland, Australia, visited Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu.
During his visit, Dr Chouhan visited Advanced Center for Ranifed Agriculture, Dhiansar and AICRP on Weed Management, SKUAST-Jammu. He was apprised about the various ongoing research programme with respect to Weed Management and rainfed agriculture at SKUAST-Jammu.
Dr Chouhan discussed various means and provisions in vogue for the capacity building of scientists and students for conducting high end research at the University of Queensland, Australia. He also delivered a lecture entitled “Scientific publication opportunities for students and scientists” at SKUAST-Jammu, under the edges of Indian Society of Weed Science, ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur.
The lecture was attended by a diverse gathering, including Dr J P Sharma, Director Research, Dr K S Risam, Director Extension, Dr T S Ganai, Director Education, Dr D P Abrol, Dean, FOA, Heads of different Divisions, other scientists and students.
During the deliberations, Dr Chouhan emphasized the importance of research planning for conducting quality research in the field of agriculture. He further shared his thoughts on various parameters and requisites for quality research publications in international peer reviewed scientific journals with high impact factor.
This three days scientific exchange programme was primarily organized by an enthusiastic group of Scientists and PG students of the Division of Agronomy and ACRA, Dhiansar comprising of Dr  Anil Kumar, Associate Director Research, Dr  B  C  Sharma, Head, Division of Agronomy, Dr  A  P  Singh, Sr  Scientist, Dr  B  R  Bazaya, PI  AICRP on Weed Management and Assistant Professors namely Dr  Neetu Sharma, Dr  R  Puniya  along with Ph  D  Research Scholars  Amit Mahajan,  Ashu Sudan and Dr  Lobzang Stanzen.
The programme ended up with formal vote of thanks presented by Dr. A. P. Singh.
