POONCH, Oct 26: Rachit Kandhari clinched the Men’s singles title at the 34th Poonch District Open Table Tennis Championship, defeating Adnan in a thrilling final with scores of 11-9, 11-9, 8-11, 7-11, and 11-9. In the youth category, Ridhik emerged victorious over Dhiren Luthra, winning 11-6, 11-9, 9-11, and 11-7. Dhiren also secured the junior title, beating Adnan 11-8, 11-8, and 11-9.
The event, held in the newly constructed indoor hall for table tennis, was graced by DC Poonch, Vikas Kundal, as the chief guest, with ADC Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik, as a special guest. Noted anchor Pardeep Khanna highlighted the achievements of the association over the past 34 years. Er Saleem Bandey, general secretary of the association, expressed gratitude for the new facility and emphasized the need for youth to engage in sports and stay away from drugs.
Prizes were distributed among the participants, with notable attendees including senior citizen Taj Mir, Er Sham Singh Parmar, and Dr. Jasbir Singh, Principal GDC Poonch, among others.
