JAMMU, May 15: Outplaying Aesh Goswami in a close contest in the summit clash, Raghav Dogra lifted the Under-19 boys title trophy in the ongoing Dr Pardeep Sankhyadhar Memorial Badminton Tournament, which concluded at indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
The 4-day Tournament held from May 12 to May 15, 2017, organized by Young’s Badminton Club in collaboration with Jammu City and District Badminton Association, witnessed participation of over 200 players.
Prem Dewan, Managing Director Dewan’s Breweries Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Dr OD Sharma, SS Sethi and Somraj Gupta were the guests of honour.
In his address, Mr Dewan expressed his sincere thanks to the Young’s Badminton Club, Jammu for organizing the tournament in the memory of Dr Pardeep Sankhyadhar, who besides being a track beater in medicinal field was an arduous sports lover. He urged the Club to organize more such events and pledged his support to the Club in its future endeavours.
The chief guest and the guests of honour distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up players on the occasion.
The Tournament was supervised under the expert guidance of Satpal Sharma, SAI Badminton Coach, while prominent among others who attended the concluding ceremony were Romesh Sharma, Organizing Secretary; Balbir Singh, District Badminton Secretary; Satish Gupta, Manager Stadium, Varinder Sharma, In-charge STC, Pawanjeet Singh, Makrand Mehta, Rishi Khurana, Gurvinder Singh, Rahul Sharma and Gulzar Singh Salathia, retired IGP.
In Under-10 boys singles, Bhavdeep Singh emerged winner and Shourya remained runners-up, while in Under-10 boys doubles, Bhavdeep and Udhyan emerged winner and Shourya and Ashman remained runners-up.
In Under-10 girls singles, Snowy Goswami bagged the title and Skydeep remained runners-up, while in Undere-10 girls doubles, the duo of Snowy and Sambhavi bagged the title and the pair of Skydeep and Suhani remained at second place.
In Under-15 boys singles, Aesh Goswami won the title and Puranjay Sharma remained runners-up, while in Under- 15 boys doubles, Puranjay and Sarabpreet defeated Rohit and Shubham.
In Under-15 girls singles, Rashmi Kashyap defeated Unnati Jaral, while in Under-15 girls doubles, Rashmi and Anandita got better of Pranjal and Unnati to win the title.
In Under-19 boys singles, Raghav Dogra prevailed over Aesh Goswami to win the title, while in Under-19 boys doubles, Raghav and Mohit defeated Sarandeep and Aryan Nagpal.
Peehushi Mahajan emerged winner in Under-19 girls singles, while Niteshi Saini won the second spot, while IN Under-19 girls doubles, Peehushi Mahajan and Niteshi defeated Rashmi and Shruti to win the title.
