Rainawari Club enters QFs of Eid-Diwali Milan Cup

JAMMU, Nov 9: Team effort helped Rainawari Cricket Club to script an exciting win over Vishal Cricket Club on the penultimate ball of the match to almost certainly qualify for the quarterfinals of the ongoing Eid-Diwali Milan Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department in collaboration with Simula Software at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, batting first, Vishal Cricket Club scored a modest total of 108 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Avinash was the top scorer with 39 runs including 6 boundaries, while Kaka contributed 22 with 2 fours and one six. For RCC, Kuldip was the poick of the bowlers, scalping 3 important wickets, while Satish took 2 wickets. Muddasir, Venus and Rohit claimed one wicket each. The highlight of the innings was a superb piece of fielding by Rahul Mussa, who ran out Manjeet Singh via direct hit.
In reply, RCC scored the required target on the penultimate ball of the match in a thrilling contest. Ajay Sharma was top scorer with 23 runs, studded with 2 fours, while Satish contributed 22 runs with 3 boundaries. Zeeshan Akram (19) with 2 fours and one six and Puneet Wattal (13) were the other contributors. For VCC, Ashu and Sahil Bhalwal took 2 wickets each, while Manjeet claimed one. Satish of Rainawari Club was adjudged man of the match for his all-round show.
In another match, JKP XI drubbed Doordarshan XI in an easy contest by 8 wickets.
Batting first, Doordarshan XI bundled out for 88 runs in 16.4 overs, with Akash (13), Bunty (15) and Joshi (10) being the main scorers. For JKP XI, skipper Rajesh Gill claimed 3 wickets, while Vishal took 2 and Showkat one.
JKP XI achieved the required target in 11.1 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Rajesh Gill top scored with unbeaten 51 runs, which included 8 boundaries, while Farooq and Naresh contributed 16 and 11 runs to the total respectively. For Doordarshan XI, Sanju was the only successful bowler, who picked one wicket.
Rajesh Gill was adjudged man of the match for his superb display.
