JAMMU, Oct 26: All Villagers Joint Action Committee from Akhnoor has demanded construction of concrete bunkers along the border for the civil population.
In a meeting of the JAC held at Akhnoor under the chairmanship of Lakhbir Singh, the members discussed the plight of the border people in view of Pakistani firing. They said that houses of the people are being damaged. Many cattle have been killed so far and people suffered injuries. Two soldiers and a civilian also lost lives.
They said that Govt and Civil Administration should come forward to protect the lives and properties of the people. The minister and MLAs are busy in photo sessions and wasteful functions while the public at the borders is suffering due to Pak shelling . All the plans for the border people and their safety are on papers. Rs 1008 crore plan of community bunkers along borders is also hanging in balance. There is urgent need to raise bunkers along borders for their security and safety, they added.
Lakhbir Singh demanded that people living in 10 kms border belt be provided reservation along IB. He also supported the demand of trifurcation of the State as raised by certain groups.
