Kathua, June 26: Continuing with the special drive against drug menace in Kathua District, Raj Bagh Police today arrested three drug peddlers/ and recovered 240 intoxicant capsules from their possession.
On the strict directions of SSP Kathua Mohan Lal that after consuming drugs the youth resort to theft, chain snatching and other crimes and to control such crimes, drug peddling has to be curbed first so that all other crimes emanating from drug consumption by youth could be stopped. Rag Bagh police intensified efforts on this front. The Police under the supervision of SDPO Border Dysp M L Kaith led to the arrest of three motorcycle borne youth, namely, Ashok Kumar S/o Des Raj, Ajay Kumar S/o Babu Ram, and Deepak Kumar S/o Madan Lal R/o Hamirpur along-with a consignment of 240 intoxicant capsules by a Naka party of Rajbag Police Station.
On seeing the Police naka party, the trio tried to escape after abandoning the motorcycle but the Police personnel arrested the drug Peddlers/ after a hot chase and recovered the consignment of intoxicants from their possession. The drug peddlers used to supply intoxicant capsules to the innocent youth of Hamirpur and adjoining areas after bringing consignments from Punjab.
A case FIR NO.125/2011 u/s 8/21/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rajbag and further investigation in the case is continuing to identify other target areas and drug peddlers.
