JAMMU, Oct 3: Rajasthan Pink Eleven and Jammu Reds Eleven registered emphatic wins on the inaugural day of the ‘JKP Women T20 Cricket Cup’, which got underway at Gulshan Ground, here today.
The Tournament in which four teams namely Jammu Greens Eleven, Jammu Reds Eleven, Rajasthan Pink Eleven and Madhya Pradesh Blues Eleven are participating is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police Department.
Earlier, Mohan Lal, SSP Traffic Jammu inaugurated the tournament in an impressive and colourful function.
While speaking on the occasion, SSP Traffic Jammu lauded the efforts of the organizing team, especially organizing secretary, Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer for conducting this mega event for the women cricketers to provide them opportunity to play with the national players from other States.
He further said that J&K Police is committed to conduct sports activities for the youth of the state to create sports culture and help state sportspersons to hone their skills.
The brief details and welcome address was presented by Rajesh Gill, organizing Secretary of the event, while the proceedings of the event were conducted by Rajesh Dhar and RP Singh.
Earlier, in the first match Rajasthan Pink XI defeated Jammu Green XI by 14 runs.
Batting first, Rajasthan Pink XI scored 112 runs in stipulated 16 overs for the loss of 2 wickets, with Sonika Sharma (69) and Babita (35) being the main scorers. From Jammu Green XI, Dhanushree took one wicket.
Jammu Green XI, in reply could not achieve the target and scored 98 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 16 overs and lost the match by 14 runs. Payal Choudhary was the top scorer with 37 runs, while Meenu contributed 24 runs to the total. For Rajasthan Pink XI, Priyanka took 2 wickets, while Ayushi and Zaika claimed one wicket each. Sonika Sharma was adjudged woman of the match.
In the second match, Jammu Reds XI scripted a thrilling win in 15th over of the match against Madhya Pardesh Blues Eleven.
Batting first,Madhya Pardesh scored 98 runs in the allotted 16 overs match for the loss of 6 wickets with Deepika (41) and Varsha (15) were the main scorers . For Jammu Reds XI Neeru, Shalu and Nadiya took one each.
In reply, Jammu Reds Eleven chased the target in 15th over of the game by 6 wickets. Neeru Manhas was the top scorer with 35 runs while Sapna contributed 24 runs to the total. Varsha, Divangi, Preeti and Kartika took one wicket each.
Neeru Manhas was declared woman of the match for all-round performance.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Suhail Yusuf, Sandeep Manchanda and Vinod.
