SRINAGAR, Aug 22: The Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar today reviewed the law and order, security scenario of South Kashmir at a meeting of police officers held at District Police Lines Pulwama.
The meeting was attended by IGP, Kashmir Zone, A. G. Mir and DIG, South Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Rajendra stressed upon the officers of South Kashmir Range, to ensure regular coordination at every level and keep the law and order maintained in their jurisdictions. He sought reports from the officers regarding situation in different areas of policing including law and order, security, crime and anti-militancy operations. The meeting was apprised about the overall situation in the range. Achievements on different fronts including the anti-militancy front were also discussed in the meeting.
Mr. Rajendra, expressing his satisfaction over the security scenario and successes in anti-militancy operations, said that coordination among different security agencies and wholehearted support of the people has enabled JKP to meet the challenges firmly. He said that our efforts should continue to curb the anti-social elements with the cooperation of people and for this purpose our attitude should be people friendly. Security of the people is our prime concern and it should be ensured that while dealing the situations, common man is not put to any inconvenience, Mr. Rajendra added.
Discussing the crime scenario in the range, the DGP asked the officers to adopt the latest methods of investigation like crime mapping, which could lead to identification of criminals in a better way. He stressed for information sharing among different agencies and districts to curb the inter-district activities of criminals and anti-social elements, saying that a strategy should be drawn and implemented in a time bound manner to get better results.
Earlier IGP (Kashmir Zone), A. G. Mir, gave a detailed briefing to the DGP about the overall situation in the South Kashmir districts. He said that joint efforts with other agencies have been made to curb the activities of criminals and anti-social elements in the range. The efforts have been yielding good results which are evident from the successful operations against such elements, he said.
Later, the DGP addressing a police durbar urged the jawans and officers to make public service their motto. He said that JKP has demonstrated great valour and courage while restoring peace and order in the State. “We have to ensure rule of law at every cost and strengthen the image of the organization among the masses. Transparency in our working and better attitude with the public would bring positive change in public perception”, the DGP added.
During the durbar, Mr. Rajendra heard the reports of the jawans patiently and issued on-spot instructions for redressal of their genuine grievances. He also asked the senior police officers present in the durbar to maintain close rapport with their ranks and redress their problems within their competence.
The meeting was also attended by SSPs, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, Mumtaz Ahmed, Tajender Singh, Showkat Hussain Shah and Abdul Waheed Shah and other police officers.
