Rajesh Gill guides Sr JKP XI to script win over CCC, lifts New Year Veteran T20 Cup

JAMMU, Jan 12: Magnificent batting performance by Rajesh Gill helped Sr JKP XI to script win over Choudhary Cricket Club (CCC) in the summit clash and to lift the New Year Veteran T-20 Cup at Parade Cricket Ground, here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Sr JKP XI scored 181 runs in stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Rajesh Gill smashed some crispy shots and made 76 runs, whereas Naresh Kumar scored 48 runs.
For CCC side, Hardeep took 2 wickets, whereas Narinder and Madan scalped one wicket each.
In reply, CCC failed to chase the target and bundled out at 161 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Narinder was the top scorer with 39 runs, whereas Ashwani and Hardeep scored 34 and 28 runs respectively.
For Sr JKP XI side, Jagpal took 2 wickets, whereas Rajesh, Kuldeep and Ashok took 1 wicket each.
The man of the match award was presented to Rajesh Gill of Sr JKP XI.
The match was officiated by Salim-ur-Rehman and Sohail Yousuf as umpires, whileas the scorecard was maintained by Vinod.
On the valedictory function, IGP Jammu Zone Rajesh Kumar was the chief guest, who awarded the winners in presence of DIG Jammu-Kathua range Shakeel Ahmed Beig, who was guest of honour. Skipper of Sr JKP XI IGP Vigilance Alok Puri and other police officers were also present.
The man of the series award was presented to Rajesh Gill, best batsman award was presented to Anand Tripathi of Aircel XI whereas Narinder Choudhary of Choudhary Cricket Club (CCC) claimed best bowler award.
The tournament organized by Range Police Headquarters and Parade Cricket Association, was sponsored by Aircel, JKP and Sunil Sports.
