Rajinder Singh bags gold in District Wrestling C’ship

JAMMU, Sept 12: Rajinder Singh bagged gold in 50 kg weight category in the Jammu District Wrestling Championship, organized by Jammu District Wrestling Association, under the chairmanship of its president Satish Abrol at Judo Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
Dushyant Sharma, president J&K Wrestling Association and former president Wrestling Federation of India was the chief guest on the valedictory function and distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up wrestlers on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Dushyant while hailing the decision of the IOC to induct wrestling in Olympics, he stressed upon the wrestlers to prepare themselves for the forthcoming 33RD Boys Free Style, Greco Roman Style and 17th Girls Sub Junior (Cadet) National Championships to be hosted by the State of Jammu and Kashmir in early 2014.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Krishan Lal Pahalwan, Narinder Mahajan, Vijay Pahalwan, Dheeraj Sharma, Swaran Lal, Raju Sharma, Mohd Sadiq, Om Parkash, Jai Bharat and Sahil Sharma.
Later, Ajay Vaid, general secretary J&K Wrestling Association presented vote of thanks.
Earlier, the silver and bronze medals in 50kg went to Rahul Choudhary and Punjab Singh respectively.
In 55 kg, Ashwani Kumar bagged gold, while Sachin Kumar and Anil Choudhary claimed silver and bronze medals respectively, while in 60 kg, the gold, silver and bronze medals went to Bhushan Mehra, Sahil Singh and Ranjeet Singh respectively.
Balwinder Singh clinched gold in 66 kg event, while Inayat Ali and Sehdev Singh claimed silver and bronze medals respectively.
In 74 kg, Sukhvinder Singh, Narinder Singh and Sandeep Sharma claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in 84 kg, Bhadur Khan, Vivek Chander and Anand Sagar claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
The 96 kg gold went to Ishaq Ahmed, while Jatinder Singh and Varun Sharma claimed silver and bronze medals respectively.
