Rajouri, Udhampur, Doda, Poonch sail to next round

JAMMU, Sept 24: Rajouri, Udhampur, Doda and Poonch districts defeated their opponents in their respective matches and sailed into the next round of the under 19 Inter-District Volleyball Tournament, being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports at Mini Sports Stadium, Rajouri.
District Rajouri beat district Kulgam by straight 2-0 sets, whereas district Udhampur defeated district Samba by 2-0. District Doda registered 2-0 sets victory over Srinagar district, whereas district Poonch trounced district Badgam by straight 2-0 sets.
On the occasion, FC Bhagat, District Development Commissioner, was the chief guest, who declared the tournament open in presence of Mubassir Latifi, SP Rajouri, who was the guest of honour. Mohammad Din Anjum, Retd Deputy Director, Nirman Singh, ZPEO and physical masters were also present.
While speaking, Bhagat briefed the importance of physical education, games and sports. He advised the girls to play the game for the sake of game.
Earlier, Mohammad Ayaz Khan, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, presented the welcome address and informed that a total of 120 girls from 10 districts of the State are participating in the tournament.
The matches were convened by Rakesh Kumar, Ashok Gandotra, Joginder Kumar, Vipan Sharma, Mohammad Yousuf Lone, Sikander Pervaiz Khan, Romesh Chander and Swaran Singh, all ZPEOs.
The matches were officiated by Rakesh Kumar, Mohammd Hanief Mirza, Balraj Sharma, Shabir Ahmed, Ayod Bali, Gulzar Ahmed, Tariq Lone, Parveen Akhter and Swarna Devi, all Physical Education Masters and Teachers.
The tournament is being organized under the overall supervision of Navin Aggarwal, Director General, Youth Services and Sports and under the guidance of Ved Parkash, Deputy Director, Youth Services and Sports.
