SRINAGAR, Oct 14: Defeating Saffron Supers in the tie-breaker by four goals to three (4:3) in the summit clash, Rajpora Royals lifted the title trophy of the ongoing Inaugural Rajpora Football Gold Cup 2015 at Sports Stadium, Pulwama today.
The players of both the teams displayed superb soccer skills and were neck to neck in both the half’s. The match ended goalless in the stipulated time and was only decided in tie-breaker.
For Rajpora Royals, four players were successful to find the nets, while Saffron Supers succeeded in scoring 3 goals, thus Rajpora Royals became Champions.
Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb A Drabu was the chief guest on the occasion, who later-on distributed prizes among the winner and runners-up teams.
Nalin Prabath, IGP CRPF; Zamir A Thukur, president Jammu and Kashmir Football Association and joint secretary of J&K State Sports Council and District president PDP, Abdul Gani Dar were present on the occasion.
The tournament was sponsored by CRPF with the prize money of Rs. 1, 00, 000 for winners and 50, 000 for runners-up team. In addition to that cash awards of Rs 3000 each was given to player of the tournament, highest scorer, best goalkeeper and man of the match in final. Safeena Begum, wife of martyr Mohamed Shafi Bhat, CRPF constable who was killed in an encounter in Chattisgarh, accompanied the chief guest to give away the prizes.
The tournament was organized by J&K Football Association, under the patronage of Dr Haseeb A Drabu to give fillip to sports in District Pulwama.
