NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday said the House will soon discuss the report of a committee on prevention of child pornography.
He asked the leader of the House Thawar Chand Gehlot to fix a date in consultation with the other Members.
Mr Naidu was responding to the issue, raised by a Member of the Treasury Bench.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, BJP lawmaker Kailash Soni said the House has already expressed deep concerns on the issue and is taking initiatives. The Government has also banned over 800 porn sites recently.
Referring to recent rape incidents of minors in Dehradun, Bhopal and Patna, Mr Soni said the investigations into these cases had revealed that all accused who were also minor had watched pornography before committing the crime.
Mr Soni also said some NGOs and newspapers have been initiated campaigns against child pornography but that are not enough, a stronger law with stronger penal provisions is needed.
