JAMMU, Aug 5: Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Inspector General (IG), took over the charge of BSF Frontier Jammu and relieved S S Tomar, IG BSF who is posted to BSF Academy, Tekanpur, Gwalior (MP) as Deputy Director, BSF Academy.
“Rakesh Kumar Sharma is son of the soil and has joined BSF as Assistant Commandant in the year 1984 as a BSF Cadre officer, a BSF spokesperson said while adding, “prior to his posting as IG BSF Jammu Frontier has served on many prestigious assignments in the force in Force HQ Delhi, STC BSF Tekanpur.”
The spokesperson also added that besides these, Mr Sharma also has held important posts at CSWT BSF Indore and National Security Guard beside various field formations at Indo-Pak and Indo- Bangladesh border.”
“Mr Sharma is a renowned officer in the force for his professional acumen and has been awarded with number of Commendation Rolls of Director Generals and President Police Medal for Meritorious service in 2006 during the service,” the spokesperson added.
BSF Jammu Frontier guards over 198-km Indo-Pak International Border from Paharpur, Kathua to Chicken Neck area of Akhnoor in Jammu.
