SURINSAR/NAGROTA, Apr 6: MLA Nagrota and National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today called for massive outreach of health services to rural areas to ensure health for all and to generate awareness about various diseases that could be checked at the initial stages by timely medical intervention.
“Organising medical camps, especially at disadvantageous places in terms of terrain and topography is the best way to sanitize the people about various diseases, as many of them remain unaware about their health”, the MLA said while inaugurating a medical camp at Surinsar, as part of the observance of World Health Day.
Block Medical Officer Dansal, Dr Shamim, a team of doctors and para-medics were present at the camp, which was attended by a large number of people.
Rana said the effort will go a long way in reaching out to the people virtually at their door-steps. General awareness and regular check-up can help fight various maladies and ensuring a disease-free society. He said the people, especially old, women and children need constant check-ups and monitoring.
The MLA urged the people present on the occasion to seize every opportunity of health check up and also keep their environs clean and hygienic for healthy life style and leading a disease free life. He said such camps help people to identify deficiencies so that they can have specialized treatment in the health institutions on regular basis. He sought focused attention towards mother-child care, infant check up and campaign against various common diseases like diabetics and hypertension.
During the camp, several basic diagnostic tests were carried out and free medicines distributed by the team of doctors, specialized in various disciplines.
Rana complimented the doctors and para-medics and hoped that such camps would become a routine and not rituals on some occasions only. He stressed the need for expanding medicare facilities by way of holding specialized medical camps at Block and Panchayat levels with advance intimation to people through health workers and other support staff.
Prominent among those present on the occasions included State Vice President Rattan Lal Gupta, former Sarpanch Rameshwar Dutt, Chairman Rehmat Ali, former Sarpanches Subash Singh, Sadiq, Mohan Singh, Mohan Lal, Balwant Singh, former Naib Sarpanch Beli Ram besides Jagdish Khajuria, Kishen Singh, Mushtaq, Mohammed Sadiq, Showkat, Balbir Singh, Sham Singh, Gopal Singh and others.
