JAMMU, Nov 10: Talented middle-order batsman Parvez Rasool justified his talent by scoring a marathon century (171 runs) against Goa and took his team to a decent score of 338 runs in 151.3 overs, courtesy a partnership of 146 runs with his skipper Simula Beigh, who scored unbeaten 57 runs on the second day of the 4-day Ranji Trophy match at Cricket Academy ground in Porvorin, Goa.
The host Goa in reply were 48 for no loss in 28.6 overs at the close of the play with Amog Desai not out 21 and Swapnil Asnodkar not out 22 at the crease at stumps.
Jammu & Kashmir resuming at the overnight score of 196 for 7 today with the overnight batsmens Parvez Rasool not out 90 and Saimullah Beigh not out 3 led the charge scoring freely right from the beginning negotiating rival attack with ease and both yielded 146 runs for the eighth wicket before Rasool was out on 171.
Rasool, who batted with grit and determination attaked during the most part of the day to slam his century plus( 171) studded with (16×4, 3×6) and came off 380balls while Saimullah’s who remained unbeaten with Half centry plus(57) laced with 7 four sand a sixer came off 212 balls and folded their first inning with a total score of 338 all out in 151.3 overs adding 142 runs to the overnight total.
Amog Desai 4 for 24 runs, Saurab Bandekar 2 for 61 and Sherbahadur Yadav 2 for 54 were most succesful bolwers for Goa.
