New Delhi, Jan 21:
Crucial play time was lost due to a wet pitch and bad light on day one of the Ranji Trophy Group A cricket match between Railways and Jammu and Kashmir at the Karnail Singh Stadium here today.
After a delayed start of the game, J&K opted to field against the hosts who eventually reached 50 for one in 23 overs at stumps.
The substantial loss of time today was part of the trend seen in the matches here so far in the season.
Both teams were itching to get on the field in their bid to get their campaign back on track.
J&K have not been able to produce the form which helped them stun 40-time Ranji Trophy Champions Mumbai earlier in the season. Railways on the other hand are yet to register a win in five matches.
The home team will be hoping that the three changes in the playing eleven will serve them well going into the remaining three days. Karn Sharma, who made his Test debut in Australia, has returned to bolster the struggling squad.
Brief scores: Railways 50/1 in 23 overs (Nitin Bhille batting 22, Rohan Bhosale batting 24). (PTI)
