JAMMU, Dec 30: After foggy conditions and slightly damp-outfield delayed the match for five sessions, with a full day yesterday and two sessions today, Tripura were 60/2 in 23 overs against hosts Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy Group-C match at GGM Science College, here today.
Earlier, put into bat by J&K skipper Ian Dev Singh, Tripura openers Subharajit Roy and Samrat Singha began cautiously and negotiated the opening bowling duo of Samiullah Beigh and Ramdayal Punia in seaming conditions superbly to make a partnership of 50 runs, before off-spinner Parvez Rasool clean bowled latter at his individual score of 14 runs. Parvez spun a web around Tripura batsmen and continued to bowl in right areas to plot the dismissal of batsman number 3 Kaushal Acharjee at his score of two runs and the teams total of 60 runs. J&K speedsters Beigh and Punia bowled splendid brief spells without much luck. The duo made the ball to talk by bouncing, seaming, swinging and wobbling it. Opener Subharajit Roy (37*), studded with 5 delectable boundaries and Rana Dutta (00) were at the crease with the team’s total at 60/2 when the stumps were drawn today. For J&K, Parvez Rasool was the only successful bowler, who claimed 2 wickets in his 6 overs by conceding 20 runs, while Ramdayal and Samiullah bowled tight spells of 8 overs each by giving away 14 and 19 runs respectively.
