SRINAGAR, Nov 6: 13 RR (KUMAON) today organised an Intra-District Volleyball Tournament at Army Goodwill School, Hajan, today.
Youths from around 18 villages participated in this 9-day long tournament.
The final match was played between village Gutlibag and Ganderbal in which Ganderbal emerged victorious.
The tournament was aimed at developing a competitive spirit amongst the local youths and also to provide them a platform to showcase their talent. The event drew tremendous participation and enthusiasm from the locals.
Col Manish Chaturvedi, gave away the prizes to the participants. The winning team was awarded Rs 10,000 and runner-up were awarded Rs 6,000 as cash prize. The best player of the tournament was awarded a Philips Four Band Radio.
Apart from senior Army officials Block Development Officer Hajan, Haji Noor Mohd Wani, Gh Mohinuddin, Principal, AGS, Hajan, Sarpanchs and Panchs of Hajan and other prominent personalities of the participating villages attended the tournament.
