REASI, Aug 3: The Rashtriya Rifles at Talwara, under the aegis of Reasi based Uniform Force, took the onerous responsibility of rebuilding a Primary School, which was destroyed earlier by the occurrence of September, 2014 floods in the State.
Keeping the remoteness of the area in view, the Battalion mobilized all its resources and with active support from NGO ‘Sahaita’ and ‘Art of Living Foundation’ successfully re-built the School and a dispensary for the villagers.
The endeavour encompassed pain staking and arduous efforts for four months with no road network to the village.
The new primary school now has three rooms, a kitchen, separate boys and girls toilets and volleyball court. The Battalion also provided a set of uniform and books to all 53 children of the School besides providing 32 benches, 6 plastic chairs, 4 tables, blackboards and a TV.
The Battalion also built a new dispensary next to the School to alleviate the suffering of the local population. This dispensary has been fully stocked and a compounder has also been recently posted by Civil Administration.
The School as well as the dispensary have also been completely solar electrified by Sri Sri Rural Development Programme of ‘Art of Living Foundation’.
Major General BV Rao, General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform) inaugurated the School in the presence of Civil dignitaries, Sarpanch and other eminent persons of the area, who lauded the role of Indian Army.
