JAMMU, Nov 12: Jammu and Kashmir’s spinning duo of skipper Parvez Rasool and Amir Aziz spun web around the rival batsmen despite their (batsmen’s) aggressive approach to guide J&K to a convincing 106-run victory over Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy Group-B match at Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur.
With this outright win J&K earned 6 points to take their tally to 9 points in the tournament, while Jharkhand failed to earn any point.
Earlier, resuming their 2nd innings from an overnight total of 246/7, Jammu and Kashmir declared at 265/9 to set a target of 350 runs for Jharkhand. Puneet Bisht was the first man to go at his overnight score of 14 runs, while Amir Aziz remained unbeaten on 19 runs.
From Jharkhand, Shahbaz Nadeem and Utkarsh Singh took 3 wickets each, while Varun Aaron bagged 2 wickets.
Chasing a target of 350 runs, Jharkhand openers Ishan Kishan and Nazim Siddiqi began in style and scored 87 runs in 11.4 overs, before Parvez dismissed Ishan Kishan for 52 runs, followed by Nazim at his individual score of 38 runs and team’s total of 98 runs in 13.2 overs. Shahbaz Nadeem (53) and Utkarsh (47) were the other major contributors, while Jharkhand’s batting mainstay Ishank Jaggi (06) and skipper Saurabh Tiwari (11) fell cheaply. For J&K Rasool and Amir took 5 wickets each by conceding 99 and 63 runs in 20.4 and 16 overs respectively.
Jammu and Kashmir will take on Haryana in their last match at Lahli.
