AGARTALA, Oct 22:
Mithun Manhas made 96 and Parvez Rasool scored an unbeaten 129 as Jammu and Kashmir reached 303 for four on day one of their Ranji Trophy match against Tripura here today.
Rasool was batting alongside Bandeep Singh (7*) at stumps. Rasool and Manhas made life tough for the opposition bowlers throughout their 207-run stand.
The all-rounder ended up hitting 18 fours and three sixes while captain Manhas struck 13 fours in his 192-ball stay.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K lost the first wicket in the shape of Imran Haroon (0) in the second over of the match, then another opener Shubham Khajuria (22) and Ian Dev Singh (28) tried to consolidate the innings, before Ian was dismissed in the 18th over with the team’s total at 49/2. Khajuria also fell in the 23rd over at the team’s total of 58 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Then Mithun Manhas and Parvez Rasool sent the bowlers on a leather-hunt in their huge partnership of 207 runs, before Manhas fell at his individual score of 96 runs. Rasool was unconquered at 129 runs at the draw of stumps today. Tripura speedster Murasingh was unlucky throughout the day as he got out Manhas earlier in the day on a no-ball, before he was dropped twice after his bowling.
Manisankar Muraisingh and Rana Dutta shared the wickets to fall on the day.
