JAMMU, Mar 4: IPL discard J&K’s Ranji Trophy skipper, Parvez Rasool’s heroics went in vain as Shinepukur Cricket Club registered a thrilling last-ball win by 1 wicket over Legends of Rupganj in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League at Dhaka in Bangladesh.
Earlier, batting first, Legends of Rupganj scored a decent total of 168 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process. Mohd Naim was the top scorer with 93 runs off 130 balls, with the help of 8 fours and one six, while Parvez Rasool scored unbeaten 88 runs off 66 balls, studded with 11 boundaries and 2 sixes. Skipper Naeem Islam (38) and Abdul Mazid (25) were the other major contributors.
From Shinepukur Cricket Club, Rehan Uddin, Naeem Islamjnr and Shuvagata Hom claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Shinepukur Cricket Club scored the winning runs on the last ball of the match by losing 9 wickets, thus won the match by 1 wicket. Shadman Islam was the top scorer with 95 runs off 112 balls, studded with 8 boundaries, while Udhay Kaul contributed 61 runs off 70 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six. Afif Hussain also contributed valuable 29 runs. Parvez Rasool was the pick of the bowlers from Legends of Rupganj, who took 2 important wickets by conceding 37 runs in his 10 overs, while Mohammad Shahid bagged 3 wickets by giving away 50 runs in his 8 overs and Musharaf Hossain claimed 2 wickets by giving away 44 runs in 7 overs. Naeem Islam also claimed one wicket.
Rasool was instrumental in helping his team to thrash Gazi Group Cricketers easily by 5 wickets, scoring unbeaten 61 runs and taking one important wicket, besides scoring valuable 33 runs against Abahani Limited and unbeaten 8 in another outing against Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club. He bowled 10 overs against both the teams and conceded 38 and 37 runs respectively.
