JAMMU, June 28: A ration dealer has been arrested for dumping huge quantity of wheat bags, which were to be distributed among general masses.
As per police sources, on specific information, a police team led by DySP Headquarters Jammu Sheema Nabi and accompanied by Executive Magistrate and SHO Nowabad Police Station Inspector Bimal Indu conducted raid in Government ration depot at Krishna Nagar and seized around 600 bags of wheat, which was illegally dumped by the depot owner.
The depot owner identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Badri Nath, a resident of Krishna Nagar was arrested for dumping large quantity of wheat bags, which were to be distributed among the general masses.
It is also assumed that the depot owner used to sell the wheat bags among the shopkeepers to make illegitimate profits, sources said.
A case under 3/7 Essential Commodities Act has been registered at Nowabad Police Station and investigation started.
