R&B’s Work Supervisor suspended, inquiry initiated

Srinagar, Jan 10: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag today suspended Work Supervisor of PWD (R&B) Division of the district for alleged negligence in discharging the duties.
A suspension order issued in this regard read: “Pending enquiry into the alleged dereliction of duties, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, Work Supervisor, PWD (R&B) Division, Anantnag is placed under suspension with immediate effect and attached with Executive Engineer, R&B Division, Anantnag.”
The Deputy Commissioner K K Sidha has also directed the Additional Deputy Commissioner to conduct an inquiry and submitted a detailed report in this regards within 5 days.
Notably, a senior journalist had earlier sought intervention from Lieutenant Governor’s office through his tweet into an alleged dereliction of duties by the official who now has been suspended for dereliction in duty.
Officials while divulging the reasons for the suspension of the official told Excelsior that a senior journalist had earlier tweeted about a resident of Uranhall area of district Anantnag who had repeatedly sought help from the concerned officials for clearing snow from the road, but nobody came for his help.
They said that the man had to take her ailing wife who is suffering from cancer to Srinagar hospital for treatment on Saturday, but as the roads were not motorable, he sought help from the concerned department.
As no one paid heed to his requests, he was compelled to hire a private JCB which, as per the tweet of the senior journalist, charged him Rs 3000 for 4 hours and once the road was clear due to his efforts, he was finally able to take his wife to the hospital.
