RCC Kathua third team to register berth in quarterfinal round

KATHUA, Apr 13: After Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) and Khalsa Cricket Club (KCC), RCC Kathua became the third team to register berth in the quarterfinal round by thrashing Satyam XI Cricket Club in the ongoing Tawi Premier League T-20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by Tawi Organizing Committee in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) at Sports Stadium, here today.
In the pre-quarterfinal round, RCC Kathua registered 9 runs victory over Satyam XI Cricket Club in a nail biting match and moved to the quarterfinal stage.
Electing to bat first, after winning the toss, RCC Kathua chipped in 159 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Suraj played well and scored 36 runs in 26 balls including six balls towards the fence, while Bobby also contributed 22 runs with the help of one boundary and two lofty sixes. Rajan also chipped in 15 runs including three balls towards the fence.
For Satyam XI Cricket Club, Atul scalped 2 wickets by giving 46 runs in his 4 overs spell, while Daman also claimed 2 wickets and Karan took one wicket.
In the second inning, Stadium XI Cricket Club players tried their level best to clinch the match, but failed and bundled out at 150 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Karan was the top scorer with 36 runs including six balls towards the fence, while Sumit chipped in 26 runs in 14 balls including three boundaries. Pankaj also contributed 23 runs including two fours and one six.
For RCC Kathua, Hari was the pick of the bowler with 2 wickets, while Bobby and Satnam claimed one wicket apiece.
Bobby of RCC Kathua was declared as man of the match and was awarded with cash prize of Rs 500 and a trophy by Rajesh Singh of Hiranagar, who was the chief guest on the occasion. Shashi Pal, president, Tawi Organizing Committee and other members of the committee were also present.
The match was officiated by Mohan Lal and Ram as umpires, while KV Singh maintained the scorecard.
Meanwhile, in the second match, NCC got walkover against Warrior Cricket Club (WCC) as the players of the latter failed to report to the venue.
In tomorrow fixture, NCC will clash with Rainwari Cricket Club (RCC) in the first match, while Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) will lock horns with Khalsa Cricket Club (KCC) in the second match.
