JAMMU, July 13: Team effort helped Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar to thrash Patel Cricket Club Jammu by 5 wickets and top their group with three consecutive wins in the ongoing Chevrolet Cricket Cup T20 Tournament, being sponsored by KC Motors and being played at KC School ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Patel Cricket Club scored a modest total of 107 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Gulshan played a brilliant innings of 43 runs off 31 balls, studded with 4 fours and a six, while Rythem and Aryan contributed 11 runs to the total respectively. Abhinav Puri also contributed with 10 runs to the total. Medium pacer Hitesh and left-arm spinner Dilbag Singh took 2 wickets each, while Sourav Chopra, Parveen Singh and skipper Puneet Wattal claimed one wicket each.
In reply, RCC Srinagar chased the target in 15 overs by losing 5 wickets to win the match easily by 5 wickets. Youngster Abdul Samad was the top scorer with magnificent 24 runs, including 2 massive sixes and 2 delectable boundaries, while Ankit Bason contributed unbeaten 22 runs to the total. Skipper Puneet Wattal also scored unbeaten 18 runs, while Parveen Singh and Satish Kumar chipped in with 16 and 14 runs respectively. For Patel Club, Abhinav, Anchal and Gora claimed one wicket apiece. For his brilliant bowling performance, Hitesh was adjudged man of the match. He was presented a Westside Coupon of Rs 500.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Rajinder Singh as umpires, while Shanker maintained the scorebook.
