JAMMU, Sept 16: Musaif Ajaz and Dhruv Mahajan helped RCC Srinagar and Laxmi Cricket Club register emphatic wins over their rivals and entered in the quarterfinal stage of the ongoing State Cricket Academy T20 Championship, being played at MA Stadium, here.
The Cricket tournament for the young Cricketers in which 24 teams from Jammu and are participating is being organized by J&K State Sports Council.
In today’s matches, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, former Ranji Trophy Player was the chief guest, and Senior Cricketer Randhir Singh and Cricket Coach, Navin Sharma were the guests of honour. The chief guest and the guests of honour were introduced with the teams of the matches and the man of the match awards were distributed through them.
Earlier, in the first match RCC Srinagar defeated Cantt Cricket Club by 8 wickets.
Batting first, Cantt Satwari Club scored 133 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 17 overs, with Dheeraj, Sahul and Parshotam contributing 30, 26 and 24 runs respectively.
From RCC, Praful Dhar and Dilbagh Singh took 2 wickets each, while Sachin, Nitin and Rahul claimed 1 wicket each.
RCC Srinagar, in reply achieved the target in 15 overs by losing 2 wickets to win the match by 8 wickets. Musaif and Ishan were the main scorers with brilliant 57 and 47 runs respectively, while Rahul Mussa contributed valuable 24 runs.
Sukhbir and Deeraj shared 1 wicket for Cantt Club.
Musaif was adjudged as the man of the match and was presented a cash prize of Rs 500.
In second match, Laxmi Cricket Club defeated Vishal club by 6 wickets.
Batting first, Vishal Club scored 130 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Farooq scored 27 runs, Ramandeep Singh 26 and Sunny made 18 runs.
From Laxmi, Sameer Khajuria took 3 wickets, while Yogesh, Sudhanshu, Aman and Kulvinder took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Laxshmi Club chased the target in 17 overs for the loss of 4 wickets thus won the match by 6 wickets. Dhruv Mahajan top scored with 60 runs, while Nipun contributed 34 runs and Anuj scored 14 runs to the total.
From Vishal, Ramandeep took 2 wickets while Rajesh Gill and Sunny claimed 1 wicket each. Dhruv Mahajan was declared as the man of the match and was presented with a cash prize of Rs.500.
