SIMBAL, Jan 17: Defeating Diamond Cricket Club in a thrilling contest by one wicket in the summit clash, Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC), Srinagar won the title trophy of the Diwali Cricket Cup-2015, organised by Diamond Cricket Club at Govt High School ground, here today.
Winning the toss and batting first, Diamond Club Simbal scored modst total of 117 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Raju top scored with 34 runs, while Ginni contributed 24 runs to the total. Mahadeep also chipped in with 14 runs. For RCC, Sourav Chopra and Dilbagh Singh took 2 wickets each, while skipper Kuldip Kumar claimed one wicket.
In reply, RCC chased the target on the last ball of the match, with Dilbagh hitting a boundary, when the team needed one run for the victory. Earlier, Satish Kumar played a brief but valuable innings of 24 runs, while Shahzad Ali contributed 22 runs to the total and Kuldip Kumar scored unbeaten 20 runs. Gurdev Singh took 3 wickets for RCC, while Monty and Money bagged 2 wickets each. Kuldip Kumar was declared man of the match, while Varjinder Singh was adjudged as man of the series.
