SRINAGAR, Nov 29: In an exciting I-League encounter at the TRC Ground on Friday, Real Kashmir FC (RKFC) and Gokulam Kerala FC played out a 1-1 draw in front of a packed home crowd.
The match began in dramatic fashion as RKFC took the lead just two minutes in. Mohammad Aqib’s long throw found Bouba Aminou, whose glancing back-header put the hosts ahead. Aminou, a former Gokulam player, celebrated his goal against his old team. RKFC dominated possession and created several opportunities in the first half, but Karim Samb missed critical chances, including an open header and a one-on-one with Gokulam’s goalkeeper.
In the second half, Gokulam Kerala gained control, but struggled in the final third. However, in the 76th minute, a free-kick from the left was misjudged by the RKFC defence, and Athul Unnikrishnan capitalized on the mistake to score the equalizer. It was Gokulam’s first goal in four I-League visits to Srinagar.
The match ended with both teams sharing the points. Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary of Youth Services and Sports, was the chief guest for the occasion. RKFC owner Arshad Shawl expressed gratitude to the fans and staff for their support. Real Kashmir’s next match is on December 3 at the TRC Ground.
