Red Run Marathon held

JAMMU, Aug 12: Red Ribbon Club of Government College for Women Parade Ground, Jammu in collaboration with J&K State AIDS Prevention and Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education, Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir organized Union Territory Level Red Run Marathon here today.
The Red Run Marathon started from Government College for Women Parade Ground (front gate) towards Flyover-Brigadier Rajinder Singh Chowk-Vigilance Office- Back road of Secretariat and concluded at GCW Parade Ground, back gate, Dogra Road, here.
The marathon was flagged off by Dr S.P. Sarswat, Principal GCW Parade Ground, Jammu. 25 participants from each district such as Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur took part in the Marathon.
The event garnered significant attention and participation witnessing an overwhelming turnout of dedicated NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, enthusiastic members of the Red Ribbon Club and spirited Youth of different colleges of Jammu Division. Thereafter, celebration of National Youth Day took place in the college auditorium of GCW Parade ground, Jammu. The program was organized to felicitate the winners of the marathon. Dr Sameer Mattoo was the Chief Guest on the occasion; SSP Traffic, Faisal Kureshi, Atul Gupta, Director Information and Prof. (Dr) S.P. Sarswat, Principal GCW Parade Ground was the Guest of Honour.
A scintillating musical dance performance was presented by the students of the Post Graduate Department of English. Students of the Psychology Department of the college also presented a theme dance to show the relevance of the occasion.
Further, felicitation ceremony was performed for the students as well as the members of the Red Ribbon Cub of different colleges of Jammu Division. Winners of the marathon among boys were Susheel Kumar from GDC Ramnagar who bagged first prize and Mohd. Sadiq from GDC Samba bagged second prize. Among girls, Parul Sharma of P.S.P.S Gandhi Nagar, Jammu bagged first prize.
