LEH, Jan 3: The Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League (REIHL) is making its highly anticipated return to Ladakh for its second season, set to take place from January 4 to 13, 2025, at the Nawang Dorjay Stobdan (NDS) Stadium in Leh. Following the success of its inaugural season, which saw over 6,000 spectators in attendance, this year’s edition promises to further highlight local talent and contribute to the growth of ice hockey in the region.
The 2025 season will feature a total of 30 thrilling matches, with 23 in the men’s category and 10 in the women’s category. The men’s tournament will be divided into two groups of five teams, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The women’s tournament will follow a round-robin format, with two groups—one featuring three teams and the other two—leading up to the semi-finals and finals on January 12. The men’s championship final is scheduled for January 13.
Organizers said following the Losar festivities, the league will engage the local community, providing players with an opportunity to remain active during the winter months. This event is part of Royal Enfield’s broader Social Mission in Ladakh, which aims to establish ice hockey as a major sport in the region and support its ongoing development.
In preparation for the league, Royal Enfield organized extensive training camps across Ladakh, including locations such as Drass, Zanskar, Nubra, Kargil, Shakar Chiktan, Leh and Changthang. Specialized coaching was also provided in Delhi in December 2024, under Darryl Easson, an IIHF-certified coach with experience in the UK and Hungary.
