KATRA, Nov 18: On the directions of Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, a Detailed Project Report is being prepared by the Shrine Board for rejuvenation of Banganga and its riverfront development through the Consultants, M/s AECOM.
In this context, to review the to-date status of DPR preparation, Jitendra Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, chaired a meeting at the Spiritual Growth Centre here. The DPR covers development of bathing ghats, riverfront development, ground water re-charging, Banganga watershed development, taking up various landscaping, afforestation and insitu soil conservation measures, improvement of existing park and water quality of Banganga, treatment of sewage etc.
Dr. Pratap Singh, Technical Director, Water and Urban Development, M/s AECOM, gave a detailed presentation on the data collected and the headway so far made for preparation of the DPR. He stated that they have completed the survey and frozen the parameters for infrastructure capacity assessment apart from the concept of theme based development of the bathing ghats. The complete DPR will be furnished to the Board by end December 2017.
Dr. M. K. Kumar, Additional CEO; M. M. Gupta, Chief Engineer; Hemkant Prasher, Chief Accounts Officer; Pankaj Gupta and Amit Vermani, Dy. CEOs, SMVDSB; besides senior engineers of the Shrine Board, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Indian Meteorological Department as well as the officers of other concerned departments and the Shrine Board took part in the meeting. From the AECOM side, Abhishek Malhotra, Associate Director, and other concerned engineers and executives participated in the deliberations.
