JAMMU, Feb 9: Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers continued their protest for their demands outside BJP Headquarter Trikuta Nagar, here today.
The protestors were chanting slogans in favour of their demands during their peaceful protest including freezing of posts in the Education department which was recently de-freezed by the LG administration, enhancement of monthly salaries, reduction of probation period and their regularisation.
The ReK teachers have been staging sit-in-dharna for the last 52 days but no written order or any Government official visited the protest site so far, said protestors, adding that they will continue their protest till their legitimate demands aren’t fulfilled.
The administration is watching us like mute spectators. The teachers said that many times Ravinder Raina, BJP president, joined our protest and gave us assurance that they would receive a written document very soon, but unfortunately nobody has come here so far with a written statement.
The then LG GC Murmu had framed a committee to find a way to ease the sufferings of Rehbar-e-Khel teachers (reduce probation period from 7 years to 5 years at par with ReT pattern and enhancement in salary) but the committee failed to submit its report which exposes the intention of the Government, they said.
The ReK teachers perform their duties with full zeal and enthusiasm in the department, but the present Government denies justice to us, the protestors alleged.
