JAMMU, Mar 9: The Kashmiri migrant relief holders and over aged youth held a protest demonstration in front of Relief organization here today.
The protesters with pla- cards in their hands raising slogans against the Government policies alleged that successive Governments betrayed the displaced people from Valley especially the relief holders and over aged youth.
The protesters while expressing their dismay over the decision of starting new registration of migrants said the same is in contradiction of policy of the Government which on the one hand claims to take the migrants back and settle them in Valley and on the other hand has ordered the fresh registration. This decision has even created a confusion among the migrants as it is slated to open the flood gates for mass migration to deprive the real migrants of the employment package and other benefits.
Highlighting the plight of over aged migrant youth the demonstrators demanded that Government should take a decision on their one time settlement as they have been totally ignored in last 27 years of turmoil with the result some of them are in total desperation.
The protesters also demanded enhancement of cash relief to Rs 25,000 per month per family. They urged the Governments both at State and Centre to formulate a concrete policy regarding one time settlement of over aged youth.
Those who addressed the protesters included Sanjay Chowgami, Sunil Fotedar, Vikram Razdan, Vimal Ji, Raja Ji, Ajay, Ravinder Raina, Sunil Razdan, Ajay Bhat, Sunil Pandita and others.
