Relief package exposed agenda of PDP: Mir

SRINAGAR, June 18:  Pradesh Congress Committee chief  GA Mir has said that Modi- led BJP Government  is treating people of Jammu and Kashmir as beggars and the so called package just announced by the Centre is a cruel joke with the  flood affected people of Kashmir.
Addressing party convention at Shopian today, Mir said State and Centre Govt is rubbing the salt on the wounds of people and take their agony and anguish as for granted.  He said the  Congress Party strongly condemned this prejudiced attitude of  BJP Govt towards J&K State.
PCC chief lashed out at Centre and State Government for treating people of  Kashmir and Jammu as beggars. He said  the Sept 2014 deluge which has brought destruction  in Valley and elsewhere, has  badly affected the people. It is ironical that instead of rehabilitating them properly, Centre and State Govts  are playing with the emotions of people on the name of  relief and rehabilitation.
Mir said that PDP has allied with the BJP for the development and rehabilitation of  flood affected people of Jammu and Kashmir, but the so called package just  announced  by the Centre  punctured all the promises of  PDP. People who voted for PDP feel cheated and misled.
PCC chief recalled that the  relief  to earthquake victims of  2005 had  reminded the people that  UPA Ist under the leadership of Dr  Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi provided relief package of Rs 2.50 lakh to every affected family and Rs 6 lack to victims of  Uttrakhand, keeping in view the present price rise and market value, INC and NC Govt had recommended Rs 10 lakh for fully damaged house Rs 6 lakh  for severely damaged house and Rs 3 lakh  for partially damaged to the Centre Govt,  but the prejudiced approach of the BJP Govt  have further agonized the people and this so called package  is something like rubbing  salt on the wounds  affected people of 2014 deluge.
Mir  urged the State and Centre Governments to stop playing with emotions of people and warned that consequences of this will certainly be very disturbing for them (PDP- BJP).
Former minister Taj Mohi- ud- Din expressed  surprise over the so called package of  Centre Govt, he said flood affected people like traders, shopkeepers, common people whose house got damaged, need to be rehabilitated, but  this package announced by the centre Govt is a cruel joke to people.  Mr Taj  asked PDP to show some seriousness and address people’s issues without playing politics.
