NEW DELHI, July 3: Uttarakhand Government today informed the Supreme Court that all stranded pilgrims in the flood-devastated state have been rescued and relief operations are over.
The apex court directed the Uttarakhand Government to file an affidavit in this regard by July 10.
Kedarnath Dham, Gaurikund, Badrinath Dham and Uttarkashi have been virtually washed away by the floods.
The state government has asserted that over 1,06,000 stranded pilgrims have been rescued by the Army, Indian Air Force, ITBP and Indian Navy which also joined rescue operations at a later stage and according to the interim report the state has suffered an estimated loss of about Rs 700-800 crores.
The World Bank is also likely to finance the rehabilitation and re-development of the infrastructure as well as the renovation
of Kedarnath Dham, Badrinath Dham, Gaurikund and Uttarkashi.
As many as 1,859 roads have been washed away and 252 bridges have also been destroyed and the state is facing extreme problem of connectivity.
