JAMMU, June 4: Head of Department (HoD) Cardiology, Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr Sushil Sharma today organized free cardiac camp in Rajouri, which was inaugurated by Shri Shri 1008 Swami Vishwatamanand Ji Maharaj amidst vedic invocations for universal peace and health for all.
Dr Sushil Sharma, while interacting with the patients, dwelt at length the significant linkage between essential religious practices and spiritual beliefs and their possible outcomes on one’s overall health pattern.
He emphasized that by prescribing a certain diet or discouraging the abuse of alcoholic beverages, smoking, etc.; religion can protect and promote a healthy lifestyle. Further, religious people can experience a better mental health, more positive psychological states, more optimism and faith, which in turn can lead to a better physical state due to less stress.
“Meditation, yoga, relaxation exercises, prayer, etc. have positive effect on the overall human environs and particularly cardiovascular diseases. Meditation is an antidote to overcome stress, fear and anxiety. Stress, anxiety and depression can triggers coronary heart diseases. That’s why it’s so important to learn healthy ways to cope with the stressors in one’s life,” he added.
Swami Vishwatamanand Ji also showered the divine blessings on the team of doctors for providing best healthcare facilities to the residents of border town.
Around 1000 people benefitted from the health check up camp. Free medicines were given as per advice. Important body tests viz., ECG, Lipid-profile, BMD, Blood sugar were also done.
Others who were instrumental in this effort included Dr Shalinder Sharma, Dr Kewal Sharma, Dr Poonam Jagiasi, Dr Monica Sharma, Dr Mahesh Jagiasi, Dr R K Bajaj, Dr Sourav Gupta and Dr Nitesh Sharma. Paramedics and volunteers, who were part of the team, included Vikas Kumar, Kashmiri Lal, Raghav Rajput, Harvinder Singh, Gourav Sharma, Akshay Kumar, Rajinder Singh, Ankush Kohli, Suresh Sharma, Vikas Sabharwal, Mandeep Sharma, Ashish Sharma, Raj Kumar and Jagjit Singh.
