SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah today concurred with a tweet which termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi walking during Indian national anthem in Russia as an innocent oversight but recalled what was done to Vice-President MH Ansari for a similar error.

”Of course it was, but remember what was done to the Vice President  here because some people thought he should salute”, Mr Abdullah, who is also the working president of National Conference (NC), wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari had come under criticism for not getting up when the National Anthem had been played during a visit here earlier this year.

Mr Abdullah was responding to a tweet which read, Think @narendramodi walking during natl anthem was an innocent oversight. But guess what would happen if RG (Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi) or AK (Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal) made that mistake.

Mr Modi was nudged by a Russian official as he walked past the guard of honour accorded to him while the national anthem was being played soon after his arrival in Moscow on his two-day visit to hold annual summit talks with President Vladimir Putin. (UNI)
