SRINAGAR, Nov 16: Urging India and Pakistan to reopen dialogue process on Kashmir, the Communist Party of India (M) today said it is the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are worst sufferers.
Addressing an election rally in Kulgam constituency, from where he is seeking mandate for fourth time, the state secretary of the CPI(M) Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami urged India and Pakistan not to indulge in the clash of egos and start talking to each other on all the bilateral issues including Kashmir.
He said India and Pakistan must realise that it is the people of Kashmir who are the worst sufferers as the two countries trade accusations as well as gunfire on the borders.
He said the establishments of India and Pakistan should realise the urgency of making serious efforts to move forward and restart the stalled peace process. He stressed that the leadership of the two countries cannot afford to put the dialogue process and easing of tension on the back burner.
Mr Tarigami said all shades of political groups need to be involved while addressing the internal dimension of the vexed Kashmir issue.
He opined that the resolution of Kashmir issue to the satisfaction of all the stake holders and the normalisation of relations between India and Pakistan will not only in the best interest of the two countries, but will also prove helpful for the peace and prosperity of the entire South Asian region.
He termed the remarks of the Union Home Minister regarding AFSPA as unrealistic and said that his party does not consider AFSPA necessary under the changing positive security scenario and will continue to support its revocation.
Referring to the ongoing poll process, Mr Tarigami said that the forthcoming elections are an appropriate opportunity for everybody, especially the youth to participate in the democratic process and have their say in policy making and its implementation. He appealed to the youth to come forward and play their vital role in cleansing the present political setup and help in the evolving of healthy, committed, principled and public oriented politics.
He said the youth of the state can ensure their socio-political empowerment through greater participation in all democratic processes especially the poll process.
