Dysfunctional street lights in Vinayak Nagar
We are having a problem with the street light adjacent our residence. It is not operating for last 2 weeks.Despite online complaints nobody has bothered to visit or resolve the issue.Even we have provided complete details to the Ward No. 66 councillor but till now we don’t see any action on the ground..We request the authorities once again to rise to the occasion. It is causing a lot of inconvenience to the passersby. Smart cities cannot be created by mere signboards but by timely resolution of day to day issues concerning the public

Curb rising crime graph in Chhanni Rama
I would like to highlight the rising incidents of theft and drug abuse in and around Chhanni Rama. The hub of such illegal activities is around Guru Ravidass Mohalla adjacent to Bharat Petroleum Depot where a huge number of unknown slum dwellers including those from Myanmar are illegally settled. In last one month three incidents of theft have taken place. Astonishingly such theft cases are taking place even during broad day light. In one incident that took place at around 8 pm near Guru Ravidass Mohalla, they took away the jewellery items and cash as well. In yet an other incident, three minors 10 to 12 years of age were caught red handed while stealing sanitary fittings from under construction building near ITBP Transit Camp during day time. Surprisingly one incident of theft took place in newly constructed house at 7 am thereby stealing all costly wash room fittings as was confirmed in CCTV footage. It is seen that the culprits are none other than the drug addicts staying in slum dwelling/jhuggis and some locals. In wake of the rising incidents of theft the residents of Chhanni Rama are feeling very unsafe and scared. There is a wave of insecurity and anguish among the people.I have already reported through about the illegal settlement and appealed the concerned authorities to carry out police verification of the illegal occupants on vacant land and plots of allottees of J&K Housing Board. It has now become a security threat for the inhabitants of Chhanni Rama as three Oil depots (IOCL, BPCL & HPCL are located very adjacent to the area under reference.
I reiterate my appeal to the District Administration to take serious cognizance of the rising incidents and deploy regular patrolling to curb the crime spreading in this area at an alarming rate.

Basohli Mahanpur Link needs attention
For any place, to develop and progress, good connectivity is a prime necessity which has been endorsed by our visionary prime Minister by linking cities, towns and villages under Bharat Mala project. But, as the ill luck would have it the 35 year old link between Basohli Mahanpur has not been looked after during this time. The Y Link is the life line for the entire population living in Basohli and Bani tehsils of Kathua district.
Not only the population of the aforesaid tehsils but a sizeable number of populations from the adjoining states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh use the same link on their way to Kathua or Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. The said link is too narrow and full of blind and sharp curves to escape from any untoward incident. Many times head on collision of the vehicles have taken place while majority of the vehicles on the road have slid down into the gorges while negotiating the curves.
Many times the work on the widening and removing the blind and sharp curves was started but owing to the lack of political and administrative will the road is still as it was 35 years before. It is worth mentioning here that the same link has been frequently used by the MLAs of Basohli Bani And Billawer as the same link connects their constituencies and their residences. The dilapidated condition of the link road is proving a big hindrance in the tourism and trade of Basohli Bani and the villages situated along it. Basohli and Bani is bestowed with bonanza of beauty by the bountiful nature but owing to the discriminatory attitude, perhaps due to the non representation, by the agencies concerned the economies of these towns and villages are in doldrums’.
The market places give deserted look even during the prime hours of the day. Owing to the bad and dilapidated condition, due to the potholes on the link road the natives and the people from other parts of Basohli and Bani tehsils prefer travelling via Atal Setu and Punjab to reach their destinations- Kathua and Jammu. It is therefore requested to give attention to the long awaited demand of the people by making the road wide and free from the blind and sharp curves.

Water shortage hits Swaran Vihar
This is to draw attention of the concerned authorities in Jal Shakti Department that Swaran Vihar locality is facing severe water shortage problem from last two years.
Though the water is supplied by the department regularly, the duration remains for a short time. As a result households do not have much water to carry on day to day chores.
There are a number of factors which have contributed to this situation. The primary being the small size of the water tank. Since the reserviour is of low volume, it does not meet requirement of the burgeoning population of the locality. The second factor is uneven distribution of water in the colony. If water scarcity can be felt even in winter months, what could be the fate of people once summer sets in.
Therefore, it is requested that before the situation worsens further, the concerned officials must find a way out to resolve the issue.
