Republic Day

Sir,
The editorial titled, “64th Republic Day” DE Jan 26 is of immense importance for the young ones, especially for Primary/Secondary school students. It will strengthen their knowledge in respect of knowing dates and years for getting India’s freedom and framing of Indian Constitution i.e., 15th August 1947 and 26th November 1949, respectively. They will also know that Indian Constitution which came into force on 26th January 1950 proclaims that India is a free democratic and secular country. Secular here means that all people of India are equal irrespective of caste and religion in the eyes of law. Celebration of Republic Day infact, is a sign which indicates that inspite of heterogeneity of Indian society, there is equal justice, equality and fairness to all the Indian citizens without any sort of discrimination.
The editorial has recalled the undersigned those remarkable days when he was ordered by the Head Master (Late Dault Ram) of Primary Mast Garh School, to participate with whole of the 5th class students being Minitor of the class alongwith Form teacher, the 4th Republic Day to be celebrated on 26th January 1953 in Govt Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu.
