Research colloquium held at MIER College

JAMMU, Mar 20: The Centre for Educational Research, MIER College of Education organized a research colloquium.
The resource person for the research colloquium was Dr Rohnika Sharma, HoD Department of Special Education, MIER College of Education, Jammu. She dwelt on her PhD thesis the topic for which was “Comparative Situational Analysis of J&K and other Selected States of India with Reference to Special Education and Rehabilitation Services for Persons with Intellectual Disability.”
The session was chaired by Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairperson MIER Group of Institutions, while Dr Renu Gupta, Vice Chairperson MIER, Dr Adit Gupta, Director MIER, Dr NR Sharma, Dean Academics MIER College, Dr HR Shan, HoD Centre for Educational Research and the HoDs of different departments of the college were also present.  The colloquium was attended by all the faculty members and students of the MEd Department.
Dr HR Shan, HoD Centre for Educational Research MIER presented the welcome address.
Dr Arun K Gupta in his the presidential remarks emphasized the need to change the mindset of people in society and in educational arena for accepting people with special needs. Parents of children with disabilities need to be informed about various available resources.
He further added that sensitization workshops and camps are required to be organized to create awareness and generate empathy towards people with exceptionalities.
Dr Gupta stated that conducting the colloquium on a very pertinent topic may be helpful in changing the general perception of teachers towards working with students with special needs.
The colloquium ended with the formal vote of thanks presented by Dr HR Shan, HoD Centre for Educational Research MIER.
