JAMMU, June 3: Residents of Ward No. 16, New Plots held protest demonstration in support of their long pending genuine demands under the chairmanship of Som Raj Taroch.
The protest was held against anti-people policies of the present State Government led by BJP-PDP combine. The protesters said they were facing various difficulties due to acute shortage of water, erratic electricity, non-availability of ration in Government depots as also enhanced charges for new water connections.
The residents also said that the condition of lanes was deteriorating while the drainage system has caused immense harm to the people. Expressing strong resentment against the concerned MLA of Jammu West constituency, who, the people alleged, was not seen since he got elected and was allegedly more interested in creating hurdles in place of solving the day to day problems of the general public of the area.
The people appealed the Power Development Department to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to the people including at Sitlee Water Plant so that regular water supply may not get hampered.
Those who participated in the protest included Parveen Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Toni, Om Parkash Malhotra, Bishamber Dass, Mansa Ram, Vicky, Darbari Lal, Amit Singh, Suresh Kumar, Harbajan Singh, Ayodhya, Darshan Taroch, Pappu, Nitu and others.
