JAMMU, Apr 25: The resident of village Tanda in tehsil Akhnoor held a protest demonstration against Power Development Department (PDD) for not repairing the damaged transformer in Mohallah Gurudwara.
The inmates of village Tanda assembled in the premises of Grid Station Tanda and raised slogans against PDD. They also switched off the power supply to other areas.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the agitation failing to which they (police) manhandled the agitators.
One of the residents alleged that the transformer installed in Mohallah Gurudwara was damaged a week ago and PDD has failed to repair the same.
“We requested the PDD authorities various times but no positive response was received which compelled them to hod protest”, he alleged.
Later, AEE PDD Akhnoor SS Manhas and JE Parshotam Sharma rushed to the spot and assured that the transformer will be respired soon.
After the assurance from PDD officers, the protesters dispersed.
