JAMMU, July 4: J&K Excise & State Taxes Welfare Society president, Vijay Sharma has urged upon PM Modi to restore railway concession in train fares for the senior citizens of country.
In a handout Sharma said that concession in train fares for senior citizens used to be 40 per cent earlier but the same was stopped in March 2020 citing the reason that there is a need to cut subsidy bills.
He further said that senior citizens have to travel from one place to another in search of good hospitals with good doctors because as age advances these people fall prey to many ailments, cure for many of which is many times not available locally.
“The concession in train fare would go a long way in mitigating the financial hardships of senior citizens,” Sharma maintained.
