ReT teachers stage protest dharna; lock CEO, staff

POONCH, July 2:  The Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers from all the blocks including Mandi, Surankote and Mendhar   besides Poonch locked office of  Chief Education Officer Poonch along with staff and held strong protest demonstration outside for more than one and half hour today.
These helpless teachers are unpaid for the last seven months by the School Education Department. Nearly 400 teachers including females engaged under ReT scheme in the district earlier assembled at Pritam Park here in the morning. Thereafter, they moved towards main chowk and sat on dharna for about two hours. They were raising slogans against State Government, Dy Chief Minister Tara Chand ( I/C School Education Department), Director School Education and CEO Poonch.
They also disrupted the movement of traffic in the city during protest demonstration on the road.  Senior police officials then rushed there and asked them to clear the road. Later, they moved to the office of CEO Ashraf Chouhan  and locked his office. The CEO and his staff remained locked inside for more and an hour. After staging protest there for some time, the agitating teachers against moved towards the original venue. Several ReT Teachers Forum members addressed the gathering. They warned the authorities to release their salaries within next three days otherwise, they will put lock of the respective schools  and start indefinite ‘Gherao’/ dharna  at CEO office Poonch.
Prominent among them included  Nazam Jafri, Bader Din, Ch Sartaz, Kaleem Khan and Wahid Ahmed Bandey.
