JAMMU, Feb 5: Alleging discrimination in the pay of Police pensioners and J&K Fire Service personnel, members of Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum today staged protest demonstration here today.
Members of the Forum led by its chairman, Ajit Singh assembled at Press Club in Jammu today and held protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their demand of removing anomaly in their pay scale. The alleged that Non-Gazetted J&K Police personnel and J&K Fire and Emergency Services personnel were facing discrimination as far as their pay scales are concerned.
Referring to the Govt order No. 229-F of 2014 dated 17-10-2014, regarding pay anomaly, Ajit Singh said the effect is being given prospectively, which means from the date of order, whereas, the affect should have been given from the year 1996 when 5th Pay Commission was implemented through out the state but only Police Department was left out. Some of them have even expired. Therefore, at least surviving strugglers should get the benefit.
Singh said Medical Allowance paid by the Central Govt with effect from July 2017 is Rs 1000 per month whereas, J&K is now UT and held the Medical Allowance of employees and pensioners in J&K UT should also be Rs 1000 instead of Rs 300. He demanded 10 % reservation for the wards of Policemen for admissions in professions colleges and recruitment.
Forum members pointed out that Police employees who retired during last six months have not received their emoluments/dues so far. They requested the LG Administration to release their pending dues without any more delay. Singh said their Forum deputation had also met LG during third week of January and projected demands. The LG Sinha had given assurance to resolve the same shortly.
