JAMMU, May 5: Retired police personnel today held a demonstration and took out a protest rally highlighting their long pending demands, here today.
The protest was organized under the banner of All J&K Retired Police Personnel Non-Gazetted Officers and Others Forum, led by Ajit Singh.
They raised slogans in support of their demands, which included one rank one pension, enhancement of Medical Allowance, free of cost medicines and medical treatment to retired cops at Police Hospitals, reimbursement of Medical bills to retired police personnel, 15 percent quota  for children of Police personnel in the recruitment of Police department and professional courses, financial assistance for marriage of  children as well as for last rites of a dead  cop.
They were also demanding that the Government order on pay anomalies should be given effect from 1996.
The Forum members urged the Director General of Police to issue necessary orders to all SSP for presenting  Guard of  Honour to the dead cops at the cremation ground.
The protest demonstration was also addressed by some leaders of the Forum who appealed the Chief Minister to look into their demands for positive action.
Meanwhile, the Forum formed its district body for Poonch and elected Surjeet Singh as president. Gita Parshad was elected as senior vice-president, Jabahar Malik  as vice-president, Maqsoon Khan as general secretary, Gh Mohi-ud-Din as secretary, Sher Khan as organizer and Prem Singh as media advisor.
